I just finished listening to Rebecca of Sunny Brook Farm by Kate Douglas Wiggin, a beautifully written book! One statement stood out to me:
“A new sense was born in Rebecca as she hung over her mother’s bed of pain and unrest – a sense that grows only when the strong bend over the weak” (Chap. 29).
Sometimes I bend over the weak and sometimes the strong bend over me. This exchange perfects us. It makes us like our Father.
“Who is like the Lord our God,
the One who sits enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap.”
Ps. 113:5 – 7, emphasis mine
