I love to pray in the sanctuary of my local church all alone save the Lord – or with a few close friends.
Sanctuaries are designed to direct our thoughts to the Lord so I look about the room for objects that inspire prayer: pews, the pulpit, prayer request cards, windows, the cross, flags, Bibles, offering plates, the altar, doors. I choose music to accompany my intercession via ear buds. Some of my favorite moments with the Lord have been strolling about this holy space, kneeling at the pulpit, taking the American flag in my hands, lifting the offering plates or praying through the pews.
Sometimes I dance.
I love this hour. The Lord never forgets my requests.
